The Wine Society annual season features three Tasting Receptions (Wine Discussion before), four seated multi-course Dinners including the Black-Tie Gala. Tasting receptions are cocktail style events, featuring several vendors who present a variety of wines corresponding to a chosen theme. Prior to each Tasting is a Wine Discussion, limited to 20 attendees, located on the 3rd Floor. Chef Brandt prepares delicious hors d'oeuvres to complement the featured wines. Wine dinners are seated events featuring wines based on the chosen theme and Chef’s thoughtfully paired themed menu. The Wine Society is open to all City Club members to join.

“As a child it was very special to go with Daddy (Puna) to the City Club. Decades later the Club is as elegant, romantic and mystical as it has ever been. It is an honor to be a member of what was once a “Gentlemen’s Only” club, of which my grandfather and father belonged. “I must admit, I do feel slightly naughty when I walk into the “men’s” grill.”

“Business lunches, Symphony and Opera Louisiane pre-performance dinners with friends and spending time with Darren late in the day when downtown traffic is bad all make my membership at City Club very valuable to me. I love bringing new friends to City Club and introducing them to Chef Brandt’s fine dining menu and the superior service of every staff member. Thanks City Club.”

“I love discovering the world through wine and food, and if you can’t get away to Italy or South America or Australia, a City Club Wine Society tasting is the next best thing. As Cellar Master this year, I’ve sought to present wines from varied regions so we can all get a little taste of the great wine regions of the world right here in Baton Rouge. The Wine Society is anything but intimidating, it’s actually a lot of fun and a great way to try wines from around the world!”

The Crabmeat Peggy is a signature appetizer named after my mother that my dad named in her honor back in the early 70’s. It is a crabmeat dish of tarragon veloute, hollandaise, and breadcrumbs baked golden brown and finished with roasted candied almond slivers. It has been a favorite of many patrons throughout the years. This is one of the additions to the new dinner menu along with other new dishes for your dining pleasure.
We look forward to seeing you and bon apetite!
